What does a business cost?

How much does a skel business cost?

It is one thing to be right, another to be right. We often see that the costs of pursuing a case cause clients to refrain from pursuing a case that they would otherwise be able to win. Settlements are a costly affair. There is an expense for the land surveyor, which cannot be avoided. Depending on the severity of the case and the time spent, we regularly see invoices from land surveyors of between DKK 50,000-150,000. In addition, there is the expense of our own lawyer. In a typical settlement, our fee is usually between DKK 45,000-75,000 incl. VAT. This also includes the subsequent fence inspection meeting.

Fortunately, there are several options to avoid paying the entire bill yourself:

  1. If the dispute concerns private property that you yourself occupy or use, your home insurance will cover the costs of both the surveyor and the lawyer. The insurance company simply needs to receive an application from us as your lawyer stating that there is a reasonable basis for taking the case. All you have to pay is the initial steps (usually a maximum of DKK 10-15,000 incl. VAT) and the insurance deductible.
  2. If you meet the financial conditions for obtaining free legal aid and you do not have insurance, you can apply to the Danish Civil Service Agency to cover the costs of the divorce proceedings.
  3. Once the boundary transaction has been completed, you can request the fence inspector to divide the costs of the boundary transaction between the neighbors. If you have been successful, or if there has been a reasonable reason to pursue the case, the fence inspector will usually divide the costs between the neighbors, or even decide that the neighbor must pay all costs.

Therefore, it does not have to be that expensive for you to carry out a boundary transaction. If you are in a conflict with your neighbor, you should contact us for a non-binding chat about your options. Attorney (H) Søren Vasegaard Andreasen has worked with neighborhood conflicts of all kinds for the past 15 years.
