I've always really liked Ronan Keating's song "If tomorrow never comes". It's about remembering to tell your loved ones how much you love them, if either you or they are suddenly no longer with us. Because it's an important message.
Unfortunately, we have no control over what happens to our loved ones, but we can do a lot to protect our family and loved ones if we ourselves were to die.
It is primarily through a testament. Here you can decide who will inherit what on the day you die. That way, you have influence over what happens to your valuables and important items on the day you are no longer here. At the same time, you help your heirs decide who will get what, so they don't have to decide for themselves.
If you have children under the age of 18 and you die, their other parent will automatically take over custody. However, if both parents die, the State Administration must decide who should have custody instead, and you can do a lot here by recommending in a children's will who you prefer should have custody of your children.
But most importantly, live life and enjoy it with those you love. Tell them you love and care for them, and show it in your actions every day.
